==========
I don’t know why we didn’t take them of ourselves maybe we didn’t want any evidence of our misconduct?  The big thing was this guy who professed to be able to do a gainer off and he sure did.  I think it was a visiting soccer team from Abqaiq that stayed the night (where would they have stayed, did they ever do that–that’s my memory of it) the guy’s name was Danny or Daniel something if I remember correctly.  Not “our” Danny Simpton.  I recall Mike McGrath being there that night, down from Abqaiq they had moved by then and Bubba Kent mostly because of that name and lots of the girls thought he was hot.  Adrienne was there, I don’t recall who else.  Were either of you?

Let’s revisit the pool!

  1. Wow, just found this website. Too bad it’s now 2008 and I note the guestbook went defunct in ‘03. I was in Udh in 4th-6th grades (Spurkowsky, Palardy, and Smith were my teachers). Michael Major was my brother…..he was in a different class…can’t remember his teachers’ names.

Hope everyone is well. Oh, what happened to Ryan Anderson?? I read his name in the obit section of aramco-brats. He was a friend of mine back in the days.

  2. Taught in UDH 1977-78. Think it was the 1st year of the school. Thanks for the site! From UDH to Jubail and then to Alaska, now retired in Northern Michigan. Would be fun to hear from any old students or staff. Bob

  3. I have a couple of pictures of jumping off the pool roof, if I can find them I’ll put them up–guess I need a password. Thanks for the site! Luke Fritz told me about it and I recognize James and Rick and Desiree and all your class. Adrienne told me about running into Kalani, soooo funny–Hey I knew someone named Kalani and there she was! I’ll tell Paul Collins and Roger Patel about udhailiyah.com I’m trying to find Holly Booth Walker and I see Darby’s picture there–how do I get her email?

  6. Hey everyone! Sorry for not being a little more attentive. I went to Disney World middle of Feb and I’ve been playing catch-up at work ever since. :) Celia, let everyone you know from Udh about this site and have them sign the guestbook. The guestbook needs to be “turned on” because of robot guestbook spammers. Just shoot me a personal email: james84(at)udhailiyah(dot)com and I’ll give you the url. That goes for anyone else reading this as well. I’m looking into a better photo album script as more pictures are sent my way. :) You have jumping off the pool pics?? You MUST send them to me! LOL!!

  7. I see the comment by Michelle Miller with regards to Ryan Anderson. Ryan and I were very close friends, despite the fact he was a year older than I. We spent many a summer in Abqaiq at the pool and playing golf after Udhailiyah was closed in 86. Ryan was killed in a tragic accident in Costa Rica in the early 90’s. He was struck by a car while at the airport leaving to return to the US.

  8. I remember jumping into the swimming pool! I graduated from Abq in 82, but was a Udh returning student until 86.

Good to see some of the names I recognize.

  9. The pool was great! Jumping off the roof, scuba lessons in the deep end, no regard for sun damage! Is anyone going back next year for the reunion (2009)?

My older sister now teaches in Dhahran and, I believe, Adriene is there too.

    Keep in touch all.

  11. I lived for the pool. I think that might be what’s wrong with my hair now. Too much darn time in that pull under the sun. Ahh yes.

  12. WOW What’s up mike hurst? Ok where are you what’s the e-mail addy. You need to send some pics to either me or James so we can get them up on the site. Hows life? I’m in Mississippi. Oh and don’t worrie about the hair mines going too.

  13. Hairs not going…you’ll understand when you see some pics. We did a halloween “Haunted House” that went across the stage one year in the gym and my step mom Connie found a white hair when she was teasing my hair up for my costume. I was probably 13. It’s been downhill ever since. It’s all there just silver and white.

  14. Oh ok well maybe it’s all grey but at least it’s there. James said the hell with it and shaved what he had left off. I’m still hanging in there but it won’t be long. Send me some pics i’ll get them on the then and now. rick0369@cableone.net

  16. I think a reunion is both necessary and feasible! The next one is in Los Angeles, in 2009. That be PLENTY of time! If you haven’t alredy been, please check out the aramco-brats.com website. Last I heard:
    Ryan Garland lives in Oregon
    Michelle Yates is in Florida
Nicole Huggins is near Tuscon, Arizona (with the parental unit)
Alex Pozzi is here in LoS Angeles — aerospace
Mike Huggins works for teh Port Authority at SeaTac airport
Von Nelson is in Louisiana — I wanna say Outback Steakhouse manager
Don Suir is in one of those Southern States too
Cindy Spoerner is in San Francisco — nursing/medical field
Shannon Smith — fark—midwest…I am so upset I lost his email
Abigail Koehler is in Utah or nearby
Donny Lasser I last saw in WA where his folks live
    Seana Campbell is in Canada
Sherri and Kathy Van Winkle are both married and in Texas
    So is Carla Eidsen
Robert Scott is in Austin, methinks
…and that’s it off the top of my head.

There’s also a trip planned for KSA in 2009 that I have tentative reservations for. I just have to take my daughter to see the 747.

That’s it for now. Can’t hear songs like “Mr. Roboto”, “Freeze Frame” or “Der Kommissar” without one or more of you coming to mind.

I hope you are well and would love to see you in Los Angeles nect Memorial day.

    CHEERS!

  18. Wow, I’d like to get in contact with Donny Lasser. Would you be able to get in contact with him? Reunion May 22-25 2009 in LA. I think I’ll plan to be there. My wife and 4 kids probably won’t come due to cost, but I think I’ll plan on being there. Anyone else?

    Comment by James Hart — July 1, 2008 #

  19. Adrienne Costas Belaire was just here, she told me about the reunions in Saudi that Kelly is referring to, that WOULD be cool, huh? L.A. would be fun if not–how do you sign up for the reunions IN Saudi?

  20. Out of curiosity, just how much does a plane ticket to Saudi Arabia cost? Grief, I’d rather go to Hawaii. :) But, L.A. would work just fine for me.

  24. Hello to everyone. I was bored today and did a search for Udhailiyah and found this. It is really nice to see all of the familiar names, and look through the old pictures. I only lived there for 2 years, but still think of it and you guys often, especially when I hear songs that remind me of the dances, or other goofy things we did. I am still in Indiana, and married with 2 kids.

  25. Nobody saw me…. you can’t poove it and plus I can RUN FASTER THAN THE SECURITY GUARDS!

One of my favorite memories is our times in the wee hours at the pool….

BTW tons of us are over on FACEBOOK.. we’ve found so many OLD FRIENDS it’s like family all over again! It’d be great to connect with everyone.

And… we’re having a BIG UDH REUNION this summer! (July 17 – 19) in Colorado! COME JOIN US!

  26. I remember climbing the back wall of the pool at night and jumping in off the roof… so much fun! one night me and Mike Eberbach told Jim Garland about it and almost had a heart attack when Jim said he’d do it!

I just recently have re-touched with all of the great people from Udh. and I gotta say that my time there was some of the best of my life even if I wasn’t the most upstanding of citizens LOL.

    I miss you all!

  27. I was friends with Adrienne Costas parents. Would like to locate them. I worked in Gas Projects 80-83.

  28. I wasn’t exactly in any of your groups, but I was there in Al Jubail 1981 just the same. I am looking for Patricia Ann Munoz who lived there between 1981 and 1985. I never knew what school she went to so my search ends there. She was 15 and had a friend called Kathleen Pizzaro. I spent many hours at the pool myself. The rec center and the aramco boats at the beach. I was 18 way back then. How time flies.

    Comment by Scott Pierce — November 10, 2009 #

  29. I know a Munoz family but I only knew the parents (friends of my parents). Do you remember the Dad’s name? Carlos? May be the same.

    Comment by Robert Scott — November 15, 2009 #

  30. I only barely talked with her mom. If I remember correctly she had a brother. They left Saudi and moved back to Huntsville Alabama. If you can find any information for me it will be great. email me at scottp@ngfcu.us if ever you find something out. Maybe ask around. Thanks.

  31. I remember diving off of there very often :P I even remember one night in the 9th grade when Jim Garland joined us for our nightly dive… I’m still surprised he did that with us.
